“Slow down and
enjoy life. It is not only the scenery you miss by going too fast. You also
miss the sense of where you are going and why.” He’s not just simply an actor,
but a great dancer as well. Aside from the said qualities, he’s also known as
my Achilles heel or my inspiration.
I was never a
fan of this man. I never thought I was going to be. I’m just a simple
televiewer in which I tend to comment if I like that artist or not. I really
don’t know how it all started, but as far as I can remember, it was a few days
before his mall show last year here in Bacolod that I was given a chance to
join his official fans club in which I was assigned as the chapter’s admin and
to represent the group. I was told to make a tarp so he could notice and
identify us. I did everything what the President told me. It was Friday and it
was the last day of the Buwan ng Lahi wherein the school will have the Misa ng
Bayan and the games. But I, together with Bea and Chin-Chin we decided not to
attend school since will arrive at around 10am. The day has come. I seriously did
not know on what to do. We were at the airport holding the tarp with my mom.
People saw the tarp and started murmuring “Jao, jao, jao” which was his character
name in his recently ended blockbuster teleserye, Princess and I. They were
asking me as well, if he was arriving. Anyway, he arrived after a few minutes.
I was hesitant to call him because I was shy. But I remembered the quote, “No
guts, no glory” so I shouted, “Kuya Quen, pwede mag pa autograph?” I felt
really nervous to the point that I was shaking. It was on that day that I
experienced a lot of things namely success, happiness, disappointments, and
shock. I was so happy and blessed to be able to meet him at the airport. From
the airport, we directly went to Rob, which was the venue of his mall show.
There we ate lunch and met other fans. I was fascinated because we were given
another chance to meet him again at the mall, with the help of the main admins
in Manila and his road manager as well. The only disappointment I experienced
was when the opportunity was there, but because some of the fans were too
crowded, the chance of meeting him again was not permitted. I felt really bad
especially to the new members which I just met at the mall. I cried because of
disappointment. I didn’t lose hope. But my companion needed to go home because
it was already late at night. That day was really tiring. Since that day, I
never stopped fangirling especially for him. I could really say that he’s a
great influence to who I am right now. Just because he likes pink, I learned
how to love pink. I learned what kinder Bueno because of him. He’s a good
example to the youth today. How did I say he is? Even though I’ve just known him for about a
year, the times I was with him and by simply dealing with his fans and his
bashers is a proof. He taught me how to stay positive and to keep everything
cool. He taught me to be kind. Sharing my blessings to the less fortunate and being
respectful especially to the elderly. He taught me to be humble and to be
approachable. He taught me how to be strong even though without hurting
somebody. He’s the type of artist wherein he advices his fans to just ignore
and let the bashers say what they want to say.
We don’t need to play the game for them. We just have to shut our mouth,
keep everything cool and mind our own business. He amazes me with his positive
outlook in life. Him being appreciative even for the little things you’re doing
for him. Him being so humble and honest. The best thing about him is that he’s
family oriented and God fearing.
I would like to thank the Manila
Business Club Inc., for giving me this opportunity to nominate a person that I
think is deserving to be called one of the outstanding young professionals.
He’s one of the sought actor of his generation. He was also given the title,
the next ultimate leading man, the breakthrough actor of the year and the
sexiest man of the Philippines. The man
I’m talking about is the one and only, Enrique Gil.
